It is an important first step along your Blue Wellness Journey. Attending your Healthy You! each year with your Blue Primary Care Network Provider provides insight into your health numbers and will help you establish goals to manage your health risks, feel better and live a healthier life. Your Healthy You! visit can help you identify potential health issues before they become serious problems.
Taking ownership of your health and living a healthy lifestyle today will allow you to be healthier in the future. You and your Blue Primary Care Network Provider will not only be managing your health, but also your future healthcare costs.
What is the Healthy You! benefit?
The Healthy You! wellness benefit is more than just an annual doctor’s visit. It’s an opportunity for you to take accountability for your health by learning your "numbers" for cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and your weight. This can help give a clearer picture of your overall health status that you can’t always see by looking in the mirror. Metabolic health conditions like high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes can often be symptomless, and if left untreated, can cause serious health consequences. That’s why it’s important to see your Blue Primary Care Network Provider each year for a wellness visit - even if you feel fine!
Your Healthy You! visit is a time each year to have a face-to-face conversation with your Blue Primary Care Network Provider about your health and your health history, and develop a wellness plan to maintain or improve your health. It gives you the opportunity to establish a relationship with your Blue Primary Care Network Provider who will be your “home” for wellness and coordination of your healthcare needs along your Blue Wellness Journey.
The Healthy You! wellness benefit provides you and your covered dependents with an annual wellness visit with your Blue Primary Care Network Provider. This wellness benefit is paid at 100% with no deductible, co-pay or coinsurance when you use your Blue Primary Care Network Provider. Covered wellness screenings and immunizations are based on age and gender to ensure you receive the screenings you need to understand and manage your health risks, both at an early age and as you get older.
How to get started
When you call to schedule your appointment, be sure to tell the office staff you are scheduling your annual Healthy You! visit. Also, be sure to make a list of questions you have for your Blue Primary Care Network Provider and write down any medications you are taking, including those purchased over-the-counter. On the day of your visit, access the Healthy You! services guide on the myBlue mobile app to make sure you receive all of the screenings and services for your age and gender. Be sure to write down your numbers from your screenings so you can track your health over time. Work with your Blue Primary Care Network Provider to develop a plan to manage your health now and talk about steps you can take to live a longer, healthier life.
