Codes 72040, 72070 and 72100 should not be bundled into code 72082 if the following criteria are met:
The patient was moved into different positions during the taking of the x-rays.
There is documentation in the patient's medical records that the physician reviewed each view of the spinal x-rays (i.e., cervical, thoracic and lumbar) and provided a separate interpretation of each view. The interpretation can be documented in separate paragraphs in the same report or in separate reports for each view.
The cervical, thoracic and lumbar x-rays of the spine were taken on separate films. If the views are all on the same film, the codes should be bundled.
