Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Partners with Baptist Memorial Health Care for the Clinic of the Future

Providing comprehensive primary care that focuses on the patient.

MADISON, Mississippi, September 16, 2020 - Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi and Baptist Memorial Health Care are looking to the future knowing that innovation, collaboration and placing the patient at the center of care are fundamental to a high-quality healthcare experience.

Opening in the summer of 2021, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi and Baptist Memorial will introduce a new way of thinking about healthcare, a clinic of the future. Dedicated to Blue Cross Blue Shield Members, the entire clinic, from structural design, technology integration and clinical care will be built to create an experience that is not routinely seen in healthcare delivery. It will be less like a doctor’s office and more like a care center committed to a person’s holistic health journey.

The clinic, which will be located in Madison, MS, will take a team approach to health using a patient-first model. Physicians, wellness coaches, pharmacy staff and care coordinators all working together in a unique, integrated approach to delivering primary care.

“This joint venture gives us the opportunity to take an innovative approach to healthcare,” said Jason Little, Baptist Memorial’s President and CEO. “Our collaboration with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi will allow both organizations to offer patients more complete healthcare with few constraints. We won’t just tell patients where they are, we’ll help get them to where they want to be.”

The new clinic concentrates on the patient, redesigning the experience to put the patient as the focus. Preventing diseases before they become a problem is vital for improving the patient’s future. Patients will actively participate with their physicians to discuss their health, set health goals with wellness coaches and receive post-visit care coordination to help them be successful in meeting their goals.

“We want patients to receive the best care possible by leveraging the power of teams. This new way of thinking will provide an environment that promotes a transformational approach to care and challenges the status quo both in and outside the clinic,” said Dr. Lee Greer, Corporate Medical Director, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi. “We are committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen and enrich the health of our communities.”
