Members' most important relationship is their relationship with their healthcare provider

Our Network Providers are partners in helping our members learn about their health status and how to be healthy. Healthcare providers can find useful information on this site through the links on the left.

Important Provider Information You Need To Know For 2010

Changes related to prior authorization of testosterone medications are effective August 1, 2010, and co-pay changes for some medications will be effective September 1, 2010. More information about this is on the Articles and Updates page. Also on that page are several enhancements and medical policies that became effective January 1, 2010 or shortly thereafter. It is important to review the Articles and Updates page and determine how they impact your office. Please refer to that page for updates in the upcoming months. We encourage all providers and office staff to take time to read about each of these changes.

Alert! Protect Your Personal and Business Identity

We have been made aware that someone posing as a Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi employee is contacting providers at their home or office to obtain provider tax identification and social security information. Please do not give this information.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is committed to protecting your personal and business identifying information such as social security number, tax identification number and National Provider Identifier.

Please be aware that Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi employees will not call your home to request any identifying information for you or your business. This information should always be requested from your office location and we will always require you to submit this information to us in writing (i.e. a provider application, network communication form or W-9 form). If you call our office for assistance, you should be prepared to share your identifying information with us in order to complete Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy verification.

Automatic Crossover for All Medicare Claims Implemented

While most Medicare claims already crossover to Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi, effective April 1, 2008, we will begin receiving all crossover Medicare claims for services covered under Medigap and Medicare Supplemental coverage. This reduces or eliminates the need for the provider to submit an additional claim to us as the secondary carrier. Read more information about this claims submission enhancement.

Provider Reporting of Overpayment Procedures

Overpayments identified by the provider should be promptly reported to Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi. The methods of reporting overpayments are detailed on the Reporting Overpayments page.
