Students, faculty and staff at Jackson State University have one more accolade to celebrate. The school is now the proud recipient of the Runners' Choice Spirit Award, given by the Mississippi Blues Marathon, which was presented to the school at the Southern basketball game on Monday, February 10.
The Runners' Choice Spirit Award was given to Jackson State University after being chosen by runners as the school with the most school spirit during the 7th Annual Mississippi Blues Marathon, which was held Saturday, January 11. Local colleges and universities were encouraged to come out and cheer in designated "Spirit Zones,"in which runners voted for the most spirited school. Jackson State's Sonic Boom also treated runners to one of its acclaimed performances.
"Jackson State University and its students are known for spirit and enthusiasm in everything they do," said Meredith Virden, Manager of Corporate Communications with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi, the presenting sponsor of the Mississippi Blues Marathon. "Runners overwhelmingly chose Jackson State for the Runners' Choice Spirit Award, and they made a tremendous impact in making runners feel welcome in the Capitol city."
